The Party Wall Act:
If your property has an adjoining wall/s with your neighbour then this could be of concern to you.
Basically the adjoining walls between you and your neighbours property is known as a party wall, and is owned by both of you. Therefore if either neighbour wishes to do work on the wall then they both need to gain permission from the other to do so.
Neither party can prevent work going ahead, but its obviously best to discuss your planned work fully with the adjoining owners before you give any notice in writing.
